Professor Dimitrios A. Lamprou (PhD, MBA) is an internationally recognised research leader in advanced drug delivery, pharmaceutical engineering, microfluidics, bioprinting, and translational nanomedicine. His work develops next-generation technologies that bridge fundamental science with real-world healthcare applications, advancing personalised, sustainable, and precision medicine.
He is a leading authority in advanced drug delivery and biofabrication for translational healthcare. Professor Lamprou has authored more than 180 peer-reviewed publications and 500 conference abstracts, delivered over 230 invited lectures and keynote presentations at leading international institutions and conferences, and secured more than £6 million in competitive research funding.
Ranked among the world's leading researchers in his field, PubMed-based analytics place him in the top 0.01% of scholars worldwide in Printing and the top 0.07% in Microfluidics over the past decade. His contributions to pharmaceutics and biomedical engineering have also earned him inclusion in Stanford University's World Top 2% Scientists List, a distinction he has received for several consecutive years.
Professor Lamprou provides strategic leadership in translational research, innovation, international partnerships, and the development of advanced therapeutic technologies. His work spans academic, clinical, and industrial collaborations, accelerating the translation of emerging technologies into healthcare solutions with global impact.
His achievements have been recognised through numerous prestigious honours, including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Science Award, the Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance Leaders Scheme Award, and the award of Doctor Honoris Causa from Semmelweis University.
Beyond his research activities, Professor Lamprou provides academic leadership in internationalisation, postgraduate education, research strategy, and global partnership development.
