Engagement, Community and Research Culture

The Lamprou Lab values scientific exchange, public engagement, professional development and a positive research culture. Our activities connect students, researchers, industry partners and the wider community.

Meeting

Research Culture

Individual meetings are taking place at least once a week. All lab members are meeting every fortnight for group discussions; a group member gives 15-20 min presentation on their research or on a manuscript, followed by group discussions.

Team Development

The group organises team-building events, exercises, fun activities, and social events. The group is also meeting every fortnight for an international lunch, and we also get together weekly with our colleagues for a chat and a cup of tea/coffee.

Industrial Seminars

The PI is organising & chairing Industrial seminars; over 10 industries per year involved (e.g., AZ, GSK, Janssen, Novartis, Pfizer).

Public Engagement

Public engagement (e.g., public talks, school visits) is an important and essential activity for our lab members. The group is also organising different fundraising events over the year, supporting different charities.

Covid 19

COVID-19

Our team quickly responded in the enormous shortage of PPE & other items, by coming up with a pioneering programme.

Sustainability and LEAF

The Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) is a sustainable lab certification program, helping labs to gauge if they are following sustainable practices in their teaching and research. This pilot lab sustainability program, exploring how labs can become more aware of their sustainability. Our Lab, is participating in this program, which aims to embed good sustainability practises, with a view to rolling out across all labs at the University.
